$10.00 (USD) per entry.

Bottle Acceptance Rules

Each entry will consist two (2) 10 to 12 ounce capped bottles (no exceptions) that are void of all identifying information, including labels. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.  One bottle will be used for table category judging and the second bottle will be used for Best of Show judging should it take first place in its table category.

Anything other than 10 to 12 ounce capped bottles will not qualify for the competition.  Should a bottle be submitted outside of this size range it may be judged (pending payment) for feedback but it will not be eligible for placing or ramp ups.  If entry fees have been submitted they will not be returned.  We're sorry but bottles outside of this range present logistical challenges and put other properly submitted entries at risk.

Bottles will not be returned to entrants for any reason.

Brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass will be accepted. Swing top and corked bottles will be accepted.

Completed bottle labels must be submitted with all entries, and can be printed directly from the entry website. Bottle labels should be attached to bottles with a rubber band only; glue and/or tape are unacceptable.

Please fill out the entry information completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified per the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring of your entry. 

YOU MUST BE AN MCAB XVIII QUALIFYING BREWER TO ENTER.  Bottles submitted by non-MCAB XVIII qualified brewers will not be returned under any circumstances.

Bottles must be free of labels or other easily identified marks. Re-used Commercial bottles with embossed logos are allowed but discouraged.

Under no circumstances will walk in entries be accepted.

Entries that do not meet the stated bottle requirements may be disqualified; if disqualified, your entry fee may be refunded but the entries will not be returned.  Please inquire before submitting any nonstandard entries.

Packing and Shipping

Carefully pack your entries in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Do not over pack! Write clearly: "Fragile. This Side Up." on the package. Your package should weigh less than 25 pounds. Please refrain from using "messy" packaging materials such a Styrofoam "peanuts" or pellets; please use packaging material such as bubble wrap.

Enclose your each of your bottle labels in a small zip-top bag before attaching to their respective bottles. This way it makes it possible for the organizer to identify specifically which beer has broken if there is damage during shipment.

Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles.

It is not against any Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) regulations or federal laws to ship your entries via privately owned shipping company for analytical purposes. However, IT IS ILLEGAL TO SHIP ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES VIA THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. Private shipping companies have the right to refuse your shipment if they are informed that the package contains glass and/or alcoholic beverages. Be aware that entries mailed internationally are often required by customs to have proper documentation. These entries might be opened and/or returned to the shipper by customs' officials at their discretion. It is solely the entrant's responsibility to follow all applicable laws and regulations.

Awards

Premium medals will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers in each of the twenty categories.  For award purposes, teams will be treated as a single entrant; team members will have to fight over the medal.  (Polo shirts may be ordered for team members of winning teams; details will be furnished to eligible team leaders after the competition.  Additional medals are not available.)

The Grand Master Award will go to the winner of Best of Show.  
Only Best of Show will be recognized and awarded.

The Grand Champion Award will go to the brewer who accumulates the most medal points.  Gold medals will count 3 points, silver 2 and bronze one. 

Our goal is to mail (or scan and e-mail) score sheets within one week of the competition.  Medalist's score sheets may be mailed later, along with medals and shirts.

Medals will be custom-engraved and special awards will will be custom-etched; therefore, awards for all medalists will be mailed as soon as all awards are available, so please expect a delay of two to three weeks.
